How to book an immigration office visit online

Many immigration tasks in Korea work best when you reserve a visit before going to the office. The Seoul living guide explains that visit reservations and some e-applications are handled through Hi Korea, the e-government service for foreigners.

Before booking, identify your immigration office by address. Jurisdiction matters: if your home address belongs to a different office, staff may not be able to process your request even if another branch is easier to reach. Prepare your passport number, alien/residence registration number if you already have one, contact information, and the reason for your visit.

Choose the service category that matches the task, such as registration, extension of stay, change of status, address reporting, or certificate issuance. Read the document list carefully. If your visa category has special requirements, bring those documents even when a general checklist looks short.

Reservations are usually not available for same-day visits. For extension of stay, the Seoul guide notes that visit reservations may be made no earlier than four months before the stay expiration date, and cancellation is generally possible until the previous day. Appointment availability can change by season, especially around semester starts, graduation periods, and hiring cycles.

After booking, save or print the reservation confirmation. Arrive early, bring original documents plus copies when possible, and make sure your phone can receive calls or messages. If you cannot attend, cancel the appointment so you can rebook and so the slot becomes available to someone else.
